Day 6 7DBBD: Checking Out Parking Companies
Domain Parking is one of the most popular ways to monetize your domain names. Parking is when you register a domain with your favorite domain registrars and then you set the name servers to parking company. There are many parking companies out there, but they all follow basically the same lines. When you set up your domain with their site they will provide you with relevant ads for your users to click on. Most companies offer one or two page landing pages. You as the website owner get paid per click called ppc.
Lately parking revenue has fallen off because of increased click fraud, and lower prices from online advertisers. One of the biggest problems in the industry has been the lack of transparency with the parking companies. There are many complaints about invalid clicks and not receiving payment.
Parking is still the easiest and fastest way to monetize a traffic domain. If you have a domain name receiving generic type In traffic, parking is a good idea for you. If you do not own a domain that gets type in traffic you might want to try WhyPark.com, because parked pages will not be indexed in the Search engines and they will get no traffic.
A few of the most popular domain parking companies are, Parked.com has great PPC rates and is very popular among domains, NameDrive just underwent a few changes and they have great PPC rates also. Many domains like to park at sedo because of the easy for sales pages and their auctions and escrow services. Google has also started its own parking service.
Task:
Check out some parking companies and try them out.

Parked.com GETS IT! (Buys WhyPark.com)
I am not going to report the same stuff over and over just like 10,000 other blogs. I just want to quickly point out that everyone knew with PPC falling down the tubes Parked.com had to change their strategies a bit. I just really do not think anyone saw this coming at all.
To be 100% honest on this subject i think this is an amazing move by the Parked.com team. If anyone can bring in the next generation of parking it is them. They have taken the extra step with the “old fashion” parking and now i do believe they will do the same with this new system. This could also explain the recent FREE accounts.
If you have not read my posts about WhyPark.com check them out here.
WhyPark.com Inside Look (Case Study)
To follow up on the WhyPark.com Just Went FREE post i thought i would do a case study to see the real power of WhyPark.com. So basically i picked a crappy domain for this, BeerComments.com.
First thing i did was obviously change the nameservers. Thought it would be best to do this ASAP since it can take a while for everything to get going.
Here is the first part of the “Site Creation”:

NewSite Creation
As you can see the first prompts are the meta listings and general idea of what the site is about. The categories are pretty broad but i think that is just for their marketplace. You can not see it in the screenshot but you can also choose how many articles are displayed per page. The other big thing is that you can display whypark.com ads or 3rd party ads, i.e. adsense, yahoo, ect. For the sake of the case study i am going to choose the whypark.com ads. Also if you have the Enhanced or Managed plans you can add an RSS feed.
From there you will be able to choose a layout. There are many to choose from. You can choose from 45 standard templates or if you have the enhanced or managed plan there are 394 premium templates. I went with the Brewing/Beer template. Pretty simple but works great.
After this point you can now customize the layout and links on the site. You can even add your own custom pages. This is why this system is so powerfull and can save you time over creating a mini-site. I did not customize anything on the site just for the sake of this case study. I want to keep everything to the bare minimum to see if the system is as powerful as claimed.
As you can see even with the base features this is a super exciting system. If you are looking for a way to make money with your domains but simply dont have the money or traffic you would like. Then try out this FREE system and see what you can pull in. I will be touching base with this in a month or 2 so keep an eye out.
Whypark.com Now Offers a FREE Service!
Yes that is right Whypark.com is now offering a FREE service to its customers. This is pretty big news for the company since in the past you had to pay $100 to get an account for 100 domains.
WhyPark.com is a Parking 2.0 company, that’s what i like to call them. They basically offer a different way to “park” domain names. You could call their service a site creation platform. If you have not heard of them in the past you might want to check this service out and give it a try, ITS FREE.
One reason to check this service out is because it creates a site for your domains. You know what that means, SEARCH ENGINE INCLSION. Yes you read it right you can create backlinks and get your site included in search engines. This is huge considering a normal parking companies sites are thrown out like a banana peal. They also have many other add on services that obviously cost money but some of them are worth it.
So head over to WhyPark.com and give it a try. Even if its with one domain at least you can say you tried it. They also have 2 other paid services for the more advanced users. These prices are $10/mo for the Enhanced plan and $25/mo for the Managed plan. These plans include things like discounts on other services, image hosting, and access to premium templates.
If you have any experiences with whypark.com, suggestions, or stories please share with us.
Parking 2.0!
Have you heard of it yet? Well this is the new coming of parking and some companies are on top of this already. This is what i have been talking about in my evolution of domaining posts and such. With PPC down and parking companies struggling to keep their customers its time for a change.
What sparked this post was, i was over at domaining.com checking out the new nav bar they have up there and came across “MFA” (Made for Adsense), which is under the parking tab. I saw VentureNames.com along with aeiou.com. Thinking that VentureNames.com was offering similar services to aeiou.com i wanted to find out the specifics of the service. What i found was something that i have not particularly seen in the past.
So I opened the page up and was presented with some templates. Thinking that these were just ready to use adsense optimized templates i was just kind of shrugged it off and started reading. Well what they offer is something i have not seen to date. They have about 6 templates at the moment that you can choose from for your domain which are adsense optimized along with SEO. Now here is the kicker, you put in all the meta tags, descriptions, title, content, and even videos for the page, along with your adsense ID number. Also they provide you with Google Analytics. So basically they are offering a service which allows the “Lazy” domainer to create a unique optimized website.
Pretty amazing if you ask me. This is the type of stuff that parking companies i think will strive for in the future. I also know of another company that is pushing the boundaries for parking as well. Its called iMODO.com. They have been revolutionary from the start. The thing that sets iMODO.com apart is they basically offer a fully optimized webpage, notice i did not say parking page, for its customers. This comes complete with social networking tools and forums for the specific domains. They update the content and everything on the page. You just build it with their tools. You can even offer an opt-in email list to keep users coming back. This type of environment is pretty much as easy as it gets when it comes to uniqueness in the “lazy” domainers mind. Plus this type of webpage allows for repeat visitors to come back to a meaningful page rather than a page filled with links that lead to advertisers.
These companies are leading the pack in my opinion in the domaining world. As i have said in the past the domaining world is changing and everyone is realizing content is king. Even Diddy knows this and has said it on his past episode on Working for Diddy or whatever its called. Check these companies out and give them a try and let everyone know what you think about them. Leave a comment here if you want and we can discuss this.
