6 Domain Name Generators
Here is a list of domain name generators that i have put together. I have been asked in the past about them and suggest them to people just looking for a unique brandable domain name. These are great and sometimes make me laugh at what they come up with. Some of these i have used in the past and some i have just recently found for this post. Most do different things and come up with different results to give them all a try.
MakeWords.com – The name says it all, it makes words. They actually create pronounceable domain names every time you do a search. I think this is a pretty comprehensive search that produces available and non-available domain names with statistics. It is definitely worth a look if you are in the area for this type of name generation.
NameBoy.com – This is a great one to look at. They allow you to put in two different keywords and create tons of domain names. They even tell you if they are available in a couple of different extensions. Check this one out if you want to see some funny generic matches.
Dotomator.com – Finding easy names has never been easier with this domain name generator. All you have to do is just put in a keyword and it finds tons of domains for you. It even allows you to pick and choose different names to check availability. They even have a web 2.0 generator.
Bustaname.com – I have mentioned this one in the past on the blog. It has got to be my favorite out of all the domain name generators. No offense to anyone but this one is super super comprehensive for what you are looking for. Give it go if you are looking for an easy way to find good domain names.
DomainExposer.com – Have not used this one to much in the past but i had to include it here. DomainExposer has one of the most extensive abilities i have ever seen in a domain name generator. You can select the different types of words to mix along with where your keyword should be in the domain name. On top of that you get a very large list of domain names.
PickyDomains.com – This is not the average domain name generator. This is more of a service to customers from actual people than a computer putting terms together. Basically you pay for people to come up with different types of names that fit your criteria. This can be a great service if you want to see what people can come up with and you never know they might come up with a really good domain name. You can also be one of those people suggesting names and actually earn money from it.
NameFlipper.com – Domain Names You Want To Own
Recently there has been a new service that has launched over at NameFlipper.com. Basically they auction off lists of domain names that have high end-user and generic potential. They are not the actually domain name like you would think but a list of domain names that are going in to auction or dropping. Along with the list of names for that specific date they also give you a ton of information about the domain name like statistics, projected realistic resale value, potential of selling name, HUGE lists of potential end-users with all information needed, and even trademark possibilities.
I first heard about NameFlipper.com on namepros.com month and months ago from a guy named Josh, which is the owner. He had run beta tests for months on this and even offered to sell the domains for you and if they didn’t he would give your money back. I had seen sample lists in the past but never pulled the trigger. I have spoke with him on a few occasions and he is a stand up guy.
So when I got an email from him recently for the first day of his lists going public i had to be there to see what type of attention came to them. I attended and planned on buying a list from him no matter the price. Since i knew these were high quality it really didnt matter to me. So i ended buying a .org list for $36. Josh even contacted me after the auction and sent me an additional list, basically a 2 for 1 type of thing.
Of the 2 lists i picked up 2 domain names, BusinessConcepts.org and PhotographyTours.org. Now i know these are not top of the line but i did not expect to spend a lot of money on the top names that were on the lists. So i picked these up off of TDNAM when they went on fire sale. Not bad considering i really did ZERO research at all. Now imagine that i had gotten the .com list instead of the .org. I am pretty sure there are comparable but better names for the .com list, which consistently sells for over $100. Also the day after the lists expired he had emailed me and followed up a couple of times to offer advice and hear my opinions on the pick ups i was able to get.
So if you haveĀ a bit of money to spend and no time on your hands, i HIGHLY suggest you head on over and try to pick up a list from NameFlipper.com. Josh also runs a great blog over there with TONS of high quality information about end-users. It has got to be one of the most transparent places in the domain space. So get on over and check it out!
Domain Auction, Parking, Buying, Selling, and Appraisal Site ALL IN ONE!
Yes that is right there is a great domain auction, parking, buying, selling, and appraisals site on the block i had never heard of until recently. The site is called FoundDomain.com. It is a really cool domain site that offers quite a few great domain names for sale. Anyone can join and anyone can list or buy domains from the site.
The only catch with selling through the site is a 7% commission but this is a small price to pay compared to similar domain sites going higher than 10%. I really like this site because of a couple of reasons, the first being that you can buy and sell domain names. The second is being able to park your domains as well. I have not yet tried out the parking but will be testing it out soon to see how it is.
I think the thing that is really cool as well is that you can get an appraisal on top of all of this. Now i know appraisals do not mean all that much but for some people this is a clarification thing for them. They even offer discounts on multiple domain appraisals.
FoundDomain.com also offers a really clean and simple design. This is a great factor when it comes to operation on the website. In my opinion i would rather deal with a clean website over a complicated or cluttered interface *cough* godaddy *cough*.
Here is a list of some of the domains that i liked:
07.org
Weakness.us
CricketUnion.com
RestFurniture.com
79.net
Career.us
So head on over to FoundDomain.com and list some domain names for sale or just simply park them to try out their parking program. Ohh yeah do not forget to check out their appraisals.
Mining for Gold: Domaining Style
Alright its time to do some old school Domain Mining. I was over at Rick Schwartz’s blog yesterday and read a post all about ‘Keyword Mining’. He does not come straight out and call it this but it’s what i call it. Rick goes on to explain how he mines for domains by using nouns, verbs and adjectives. He takes a keyword, usually a noun, and then combines it with various verbs and adjectives to create keyword domain names. I want to bring this technique to light in the manual way and i will direct you in the direction of some automated tools, usually free.
Step #1:
You need to compile a list of adjectives and nouns that are popular words. This is pretty easily done with a search in google. Most list either can be downloaded or copied extremely easy. Put these in an excel spread sheet as a list. Check the picture below:
Step #2:
Now that you have go your list of verbs and adjectives all you have to do now is come up with a keyword that you would like to mine. In this example i will use “Blog”. After you have chosen the keyword you will use just put the keyword either in front of or after the adjectives and verbs. Then just drag the word all the down to the end of the list. Check the picture below:
Step #3:
The next step is super super simple just highlight the 2 columns and copy them. Check picture below:
Step #4:
Now that you have your keywords copied now you have to paste them in a bulk domain availability checker. My favorite to do this is GoDaddy.com but you can also use my Bulk Domain Availability Checker right here at YGrab.com
! Check Picture Below:
Step #5:
After you click submit it will bring you to another page that lets you know what was available and what was not. From my search, i can tell that the keyword ‘Blog’ has been mined extensively. I know this because there were no available domains with my words.
This is a super simple method that produces some great results if done with the right keywords. Obviously as you can see that some keywords are mined more than others. Try doing this with a variety of keywords and i am sure you can find some great ones to be had. This method also works great with geo targeted domain names. Here is a small list of automated tools that do this same thing for you:
Have fun with this and i hope everyone can find a good name or two using this mining method. Let us all know of the domains you have found using this method or one of the tools above. Also if you have something to add do not be afraid to do so.

Better yet, is this the first article you have ever read about the world of domain names and the profits you can make with them. Well here is 5 ways on How to Make Money with Domain Names.
1. Selling Domain Names for Money
Yes this is the main thing that makes a domainer a domainer. Its really as simple as it sounds to sell a domain name for more money than what you paid for it. The hard part is to find the good domains and find a buyer to buy it for the price you want to sell it at. This method can prove to be profitable but you must know the industry pretty well to make a decent amount of money. Try heading over to NamePros.com and doing research on the industry before you start trying to sell and buy domain names for money. 2. Parking
This is the old parking method that everyone has used for years to convert their properties in to gold mines. Basically parking a PPC model that has worked for year on domain names that receive Type-in traffic or domains that were a previous site and still get visitors. Being new to the industry its pretty hard to make money this way unless you have deep pockets or get lucky registering domain that get traffic. I would highly suggest you do research on domains before you go in and invest for just parking domain names. Its pretty easy to get burned this way. Recommended Reading: Parked.com
3. Mini-Sites/Site Development
Alright now this is the nitty gritty of domain names. This is the point where you have to put some REAL work in to making money with domain names. The benefits of full fledged development and mini-sites are that they will get indexed in search engines, have REAL traffic, and they can be built upon possibly in to a business. This can prove to be much more profitable than any old domain name method out there. Now i was just speaking about SITE DEVELOPMENT not mini-sites. Mini-sites are a great asset to have in your portfolio because of the reasons stated above. They are one step up from a parking site and can be expanded as need along with being able to creat backlinks and value to the domain names. There are some easy ways to monetize these sites from anything like PPC to direct advertising sales. Just make sure that you create something of quality and not quantity. 4. Affiliate Marketing
Now this has been around for a long time just as the others have. If you really want to make some money i highly suggest looking in to this area of development. I am by far no expert but have found some good profits in this area. Only bad thing about it is that is follows the old saying, “Gotta spend money to make money.” Which is 100% true but the grass is much greener on the other side for sure. 5. Blogging
This is kind of a combination of some of the above but i had to put it by itself. Blogging for money is much more than just site development or a business. Often times you are expressing feelings, opinions, advice, or even reporting news. In return this can become a well oiled machine that just turns out gold bricks. Having a blog is an essential online junky IMO. Just know how to integrate ads and things like that and you will see the money start rolling in. Just remember do it on something you like doing and have fun with it. So what if you make a couple cents at first, eventually that will turn to a couple dollars then a couple hundred dollars.
