As of late i have been picking up more and more .org and .net domain names. Not only have i been picking them up i have been able to flip some as well for great prices. You may be saying what the hell do you want a .net or .org for? Well there are two reasons why i have been taking them: 1) Hardly any domainers like them so they are super cheap and i can usually get them with little to no competition 2) Since they are super generic they are easy to optimize and rise to the top of search engines.

Just those two factors alone are enough to make me spit out reg fee or even $100 at a drop house for a great domain name. Most of the time the extension of a domain will not matter for the most part in SEO. I could use a .info and make it to the first page if i did it right.

You would also be amazed at how many websites or companies use a crappy .com or the .net/.org versions of a domain name. Even if they own a crappy .com name quite a few will be more than happy to give up a couple hundred bucks to have a generic .net or .org that relates directly to what they are selling.

At this point you may be asking where i find the domain names to pick up. Well its pretty simple and it is an amazing website, its called FreshDrop.net. This site is so extensive and filled with stats that it is as easy as applying the filters and looking the domain names.

They have lists from godaddy all the way to ebay and everything in between. I usually scan most of the lists based on the criteria i put in and i get back some great domain names. The reason i say you can get great .net or .orgs for $13 a piece is because that’s how much they costs when you get them from TDNAM.

FreshDrop.net

So if you want to find some great domain names with out all the extra work go ahead and check out FreshDrop.net, it is totally worth it. Just as a disclaimer this is not how i find all of my names but is something that i check and scan just about everyday, a very useful tool that i think everyone should at least try.

LiveDomainAuctioneers.com broke on to the scene last month. Basically what they do is whole live no reserve domain name auctions completely online. Lots of people when they here domain auction house they automatically go, great another one. Well with Live Domain Auctioneers that is not the case.

LiveDomainAuctioneers

They take the traditional auction method and tailored it to domain names for a mass audience. By having no reserves EVER on any domain name they save everyone time. Does not matter if a $1 bid is placed on a name it WILL sell. This is something you really do not see very much at other auctions. Other auctions may say no reserve but there usually is a minimum bid. With Live Domain Auctioneers that is not the case.

The other cool thing that helps us domainers out is that it is completely ONLINE and LIVE. Which means that you can bid from anywhere in the world and know that it is in real time. They even provide audio as the auctions take place. Along with all of that is the software that they have chosen to use is top of the line, ProxiBid.com. Others have used this platform in the past and i think it is a great fit for this type of auction.

I have had a brief conversation with the owners of LiveDomainAuctioneers.com and i squeezed in the question about user submitted domain names. They had told me that it was a possibility in the future. Now that would really set off the quality of domain names being auction.

I like what they are doing and so far it has been great to watch. So go ahead and check out the names that are being auctioned and possibly even purchase a domain name. Here are some of their featured domain names:

MegaFight.com
TurboBroadband.com
MobiGeeks.com
Ellei.com
BigDelivery.com
Identicals.com
JazzMonkey.com
KikMe.com

I just read over at Sahar Sarid’s blog that the Auction Acceleration Program over at bido.com has become very popular and some changes will be made. For those of you that do not know what the Auction Acceleration Program is at Bido.com it is exactly what its name means. You can pay a fee to have your domain name at Bido.com be listed for auction immediately without waiting for votes or the required 30 days to go to auction.

auction acceleration program

Basically Sahar has stated the response to the program have been positive. From that they have even had inquiries about large amounts of domains being listed this way. Going as far to say that there will be better rates than the current cart can hold, which is 10 domains.

Now i like what the guys over at Bido.com have done with bido.com in the past couple of months. I have seen it grow from a baby to the auction house that it is today. It was extremely unique and still is but i really think allowing bulk domains being listed right away will take away from the site as a whole. If you really think about it its already getting cluttered with the amount of domains being listed as of this current day. Now wait until they open the flood gates and you start seeing 100s of auctions per day.

IMO, this action will bring down the overall quality of domains and the prices for the domains will be far fetched compared to previous versions of Bido.com. If they keep going down this road you can only see this becoming a glorified Sedo.com.

A solution to this problem maybe featured auctions or even a revamp to the voting section. Maybe have the voting section entail to which auction floats to the top of the table and get the most exposure. In return this would weed out some of the crap that is floating on there right now.

On top of that they could weigh heavier on staff picks or even implement expert picks. Make this mean much more than just the star to the left of the domain name. This could be a great thing and add another dimension to the Bido.com platform for which they are famous for doing.

Please leave your comments below and let me know if i am totally off my rocker or add your own opinions on the matter. Also please Bido shed some light on the matter and let us know that we are not left in the dark.

Bido.com this past week has rolled out quite a few interesting features to the site. Seems like the auctions are running smooth even with the new features on top of whats going on with the sites. From the looks of the new things going it is definitely running in to a more automated sites.

Guarantee Program has been announced to the public. This is a pretty amazing deal that they are offering up. Basically you can submit names to the program and if accepted they will put your names in a private auction with big time buyers. If the auction does not get the money you want you can simply walk away. Also you have the choice to submit the name to a No Reserve auction on Bido.com. Pretty cool program if you ask me.

I think the biggest thing that has come out is the Auction Acceleration option. For a fee you can surpass the votes or 30 days you have to wait for at Bido.com when you submit your names. Not sure if this was a great move by the team at Bido.com but it is definitely a step to take a bit of priority off of the project itself. In other words, automate the site.

Auctions no longer start at $1. They will now fetch a minimum of $28 if elected to auction. This in my opinion is a good move because it will allow people to submit higher quality names knowing they will get some type of money out of them. Not extremely awesome but a good move by Bido.com.

They have also implemented an auction ticker, chatroom enhancements, pre-bids are absolute, among other changes that have taken place over the week.

DesigningTips.com – I really do not have to say much about this domain. You can take it any way you want as far as designing goes, anything from graphics design to interior design. Expect to run a successful blog with this domain if you pick it up. Also there is some resell value here, possibly to a professional blogger.

VegasFights.com – This one can easily become a great local site. Businesses in vegas understand business and i do not doubt that someone can talk them in to making a great sale on this domain name. Not only that you can easily turn this in to a fight destination for people and make a decent amount of money on adverts. Give this one a try if its going for cheap.

ReinvestMoney.com – Take this name to the next level with a financial advice blog. Same as DesigningTips.com find a blogger out there that understands domain and you could find a bit of cash in your pocket. Along with that this would be super easy to get passionate about if you can get a following with a blog.

As you all may have noticed SnapNames.com has been running monthly showcase auctions. I have not really checked them out until as of late. I must say they have done a great job with the name quality and target of the specific auctions. For instance the theme this month is “Summer Stimulus Low & No Reserve”, and they have done an amazing job by keeping quality names with in this theme.

I have a couple of picks that i think everyone should take a peek at and maybe keep an eye on.

DebtCollections.net: Reserve $1,001 – $2,500 – You might be thinking to yourself why this name really means anything to a developer or a domainer. Well this name has amazing potential not only for development but for resell as well. You can easily turn this domain in to great debt counseling or consulting website. Dominate the search rankings with an optimized squeeze page or make a great website with a list of services. If you want to go the resell route look at debt companies that use brandable names or just simply have the lack or a great domain name. I am sure you can make a profit with this name either way.

PetGrooming.net: Reserve NO RESERVE (Start $300) – Talk about a category killer. This name has endless possibilities in the realm of pets. There are many many people out there that are looking for tips on pet grooming or just simply looking for a pet groomer. Might even be able to resell this one for a decent profit to a large pet grooming place.

FinancialCounseling.com: Reserve $5,001 – $10,000 – This goes hand in hand with debtcollections.net. The potential here is pretty amazing considering the state of the economy. I do not expect someone to flip this name for its asking price but you can sure as hell make a profit off of this one if you have a background in the financial sector and some backing money. Expect to make a profit if you do the site correctly and treat it as a business.

Jamie from over at DotWeekly.com made a post earlier this week about some names he has for sale. One of the names he is selling happens to be in the auction. The domain name is 4N.net, which so happens to be at NO RESERVE with only 1 bid at $300 at the posting of this post.

So if you have not checked out the auction list by now get on over and check it out. If you have a name listed for auction feel free to list it here in the comments section.

This week over at Bido.com is pretty big. I have not counted the amount of names up for auction but there are a TON of names this week. If you have been looking for a variety of names for your choosing at bido.com, then this week is your week to get some bidding done. There is every top TLD you can think of along with all types of keyword domain names. Here are my top three picks for this week.

GolfExpert.org – I picked this one for my personal opinions. I LOVE golf! I have been golfing since i was a little little kid. The reason that this one pops out at me is simply because of the potential for a great blog. If i had not already got a name that i am using for a golf blog it would be a top pick for me. I really do not care about the extension in this case for the reason that it really does not matter to much. Many things can come from this name other than just a blog, an organization for golf experts or even a sweet golf forum. Resell on this one should be easy and i do not expect it to go through the roof on the final price, PICK THIS ONE UP!

PropertyRentals.us – The .us domain space has been heating up for the past month or so. I really do not have to say much about this domain name because of the keywords that are in this domain name. If you have not noticed that rental companies and businesses in general have been opening up to these types of names and are understanding the importance of a great keyword domain name. Easy end-user potential on this one.

JobLoss.us – You may be thinking why this name. Well i am not looking at this name because of the massive job losses over the past year or so. I see potential in a job site at this location. How many pissed off people do you think have typed “job loss” in the past year? Well quite a few have just because of the fact that they are mad at the world. Now how do you think they would feel if they found JobLoss.us at the top search result and it was a job website? Well work that angle and i am sure you can either sell the domain name or create something amazing with it.

For the first week of bido.com auctions in august looks like it will be exciting. With the new way of doing the auctions and the shear amount of domain name submissions to Bido each and every week you should see quite a few deals going under the radar. For instance I have looked through all auctions that are set for this week and have seen quite a few one word category killer .infos. Although they may be .infos i would still keep an eye on them and snag one if you feel it is a great deal. I am almost positive 2 or 3 of them will go for way under value.

Over the past week or so I have been getting some emails about why I didn’t not post this post last week. Well simply I have been extremely busy and I am trying to find the best way to report the Bido.com auctions since implementation of the new system. I know I would like to incorperate some video blogging but do not think it would be sustainable every week. So if you guys have ideas I am willing to listen. Basically, What would you guys like to see in this report week to week?

On to the picks:

ToolRentals.net – This is an extremely great domain considering the extension is not the .com. You can instantly look at it and know exactly what you will find on the site. Its a very marketable domain name and i am sure you can find a buyer if you want to sell it for a reasonable price. Think local if you are planning a flip when you pick this one up. Also up for auction is BICYCLERENTALS.NETBicycleRentals.net, similar scenario.

CallingPlans.us – You may be thinking that i am crazy for mentioning this domain and you might see stronger names out there. I picked this one because i believe in the .us extensions and think this one will be a deal for who ever buys it. What makes this domain pop for me is the growing number of mobile device use in America. I know that the major companies out there like tmobile or at&t might be interested if you can get a hold of the right people. Otherwise think local with this one, you would be surprised at the sites and domains that local cell phone dealers have. You just have to convince them of the value in the domain and web presence.

Blisters.info – Sticking with what i said, i thought i would mention a strong .info category killer. It really does not get much better than this other than the .com extension. I really not expect a quick flip on this one but a site with info and products could pay off big time.

Recently there has been a new service that has launched over at NameFlipper.com. Basically they auction off lists of domain names that have high end-user and generic potential. They are not the actually domain name like you would think but a list of domain names that are going in to auction or dropping. Along with the list of names for that specific date they also give you a ton of information about the domain name like statistics, projected realistic resale value, potential of selling name, HUGE lists of potential end-users with all information needed, and even trademark possibilities.

NameFlipper.com

I first heard about NameFlipper.com on namepros.com month and months ago from a guy named Josh, which is the owner. He had run beta tests for months on this and even offered to sell the domains for you and if they didn’t he would give your money back. I had seen sample lists in the past but never pulled the trigger. I have spoke with him on a few occasions and he is a stand up guy.

So when I got an email from him recently for the first day of his lists going public i had to be there to see what type of attention came to them. I attended and planned on buying a list from him no matter the price. Since i knew these were high quality it really didnt matter to me. So i ended buying a .org list for $36. Josh even contacted me after the auction and sent me an additional list, basically a 2 for 1 type of thing.

Of the 2 lists i picked up 2 domain names, BusinessConcepts.org and PhotographyTours.org. Now i know these are not top of the line but i did not expect to spend a lot of money on the top names that were on the lists. So i picked these up off of TDNAM when they went on fire sale. Not bad considering i really did ZERO research at all. Now imagine that i had gotten the .com list instead of the .org. I am pretty sure there are comparable but better names for the .com list, which consistently sells for over $100. Also the day after the lists expired he had emailed me and followed up a couple of times to offer advice and hear my opinions on the pick ups i was able to get.

So if you have a bit of money to spend and no time on your hands, i HIGHLY suggest you head on over and try to pick up a list from NameFlipper.com. Josh also runs a great blog over there with TONS of high quality information about end-users. It has got to be one of the most transparent places in the domain space. So get on over and check it out!

Alright i am finally back on track with the picks of the week. I had some other non-domaining business last Monday so i could not make that post. Anyways, i have taken some time away and have come up with a better strategy to make it worth while to read these Bido.com posts. In the coming weeks i will be doing video posts for select auctions that i think everyone should check out. Hopefully they will be entertaining and not boring.

Anyways on to this week’s picks. Yes that is right i said pickS! Bido.com has recently evolved its platform and has moved to more than one auction a day. The really cool thing about the times of the auctions is that they are picked by the seller themselves. That’s right instead of having the auctions always start at 1pm Eastern time it is now up to the seller. It seems that the trend has been to stick around that 1pm Eastern time but just knowing that they auctions can literally take place at any time is a big step for bido and only opens up more doors for them.

On top of just having multiple auctions bido.com has also moved on to putting the auctions in the Bido.com Experts hands. This means that us, the experts, control what goes on to the auction block. This is also a big move for Bido.com since it opens up on transparency, basically letting us in on the back-end and stop the complaining that you hear around the industry about Bido.com.

Bido.com Expert Voting

In addition to these major steps on the Bido.com platform there are many many subtle changes that have taken place from quick bid options for all auction in one place, found this one out first hand lol, and even video integration right on top of the auction. Previous the videos were filed under the media tab but this now allows more people to see the video and notice why that domain might be up for auction.

Alright now that we got that out of the way here are my top 3 picks for the week:

SuicideHelp.org – July 22, 1:00 pm EDT
I am not picking this one because of the generic nature of this one. I am pointing it out because the use that can be put in to this domain name. This is an insane and awesome domain that can potentially heal and help many lives out there, especially in tough times. I just hope this one lands in the right persons hands that will do the right thing with it.

Trips.mobi – July 23, 1:00 pm EDT
Wow what a great .mobi! This domain has endless potential in the travel industry. This would be a perfect domain to offer a service where you help people plan itineraries and keep them on schedule while on the go. There are many many ideas that can be poured in to this domain not to mention the value on such a generic domain name. With people on the go and using they cell phones a lot more this domain could take off even from a domainers investment standpoint. Should expect this one to have some heat on it sky rocketing it right in to space. Killer domain to watch!

Bankrupt.us – July 23, 3:00 pm EDT
Now i know some of you may be thinking that this domain was already on bido.com. Well you are right but it looks like it fell victim to a non-paying buyer. Anyways, my opinions about this killer domain in an awesome ccTLD have not changed. This went for $3+ last time. Would not doubt it gets around that range again. Hopefully will sell this time. Also it looks like the only domain that is being auctioned with a reserve, expect it to be around where it sold last time.

Alright glad to be back this week. This week at Bido.com there is quite a range of .com names up for grabs here. I think we are looking at a normal week at Bido.com but who knows one or more of these names has the potential with 2 or 3 bidders.

Monday – ForeclosureCalculator.com

Tuesday – IMotels.com

Wednesday – Samoyeds.com

Thursday – HolidayGreeting.com

Friday – BirdWatch.tv

I am not going to go with the obvious choice here, HolidayGreeting.com. Yes it is awesome and gets quite a bit of traffic on a daily basis. I really would not be surprised to see this one just high. This week I am going for Samoyeds.com. The reason for this is because it is simply a niche killer. I am not a huge dog person or anything but would enjoy owning this name. If you have 2 Samoyed lovers this name could potential be a great sale for the owner of this name.
