Domain Auction, Parking, Buying, Selling, and Appraisal Site ALL IN ONE!

Yes that is right there is a great domain auction, parking, buying, selling, and appraisals site on the block i had never heard of until recently. The site is called FoundDomain.com. It is a really cool domain site that offers quite a few great domain names for sale. Anyone can join and anyone can list or buy domains from the site.

The only catch with selling through the site is a 7% commission but this is a small price to pay compared to similar domain sites going higher than 10%. I really like this site because of a couple of reasons, the first being that you can buy and sell domain names. The second is being able to park your domains as well. I have not yet tried out the parking but will be testing it out soon to see how it is.

I think the thing that is really cool as well is that you can get an appraisal on top of all of this. Now i know appraisals do not mean all that much but for some people this is a clarification thing for them. They even offer discounts on multiple domain appraisals.

FoundDomain.com also offers a really clean and simple design. This is a great factor when it comes to operation on the website. In my opinion i would rather deal with a clean website over a complicated or cluttered interface *cough* godaddy *cough*.

Here is a list of some of the domains that i liked:

07.org

Weakness.us

CricketUnion.com

RestFurniture.com

79.net

Career.us

So head on over to FoundDomain.com and list some domain names for sale or just simply park them to try out their parking program. Ohh yeah do not forget to check out their appraisals.

Bido.com Pick of the Week 6/29/09 – 7/3/09

This week over at Bido.com it looks to be an exciting week. They have quite a few .coms, a .info, and a great geo .us domain. With Bido.com starting to get traction i think this is shaping up to be an above average week with the type of names they have going. Here is what is on tap this week:

MondayNevadaLots.com

TuesdayRentYachts.com

WednesdayConvict.info

ThursdayCreditStatement.com

FridayRockyMountains.us

This week my favorite domain up for auction here is RockyMountains.us. IMO, this is a pretty big name considering the Rocky Mountains span a wide space in the USA. This name could easily be marketed to a travel company specializing in the Rockies or to a company that wants to have a campaign direct at the Rocky Mountains. This could also be made in to a cool travel type site that you could generate leads or even bookings for trips. All in all i think this is the best name on the block this week and i expect this one to get near low $x,xxx. This is a name that i would love to have in my portfolio for sure.

Mining for Gold: Domaining Style

Alright its time to do some old school Domain Mining. I was over at Rick Schwartz’s blog yesterday and read a post all about ‘Keyword Mining’. He does not come straight out and call it this but it’s what i call it. Rick goes on to explain how he mines for domains by using nouns, verbs and adjectives. He takes a keyword, usually a noun, and then combines it with various verbs and adjectives to create keyword domain names. I want to bring this technique to light in the manual way and i will direct you in the direction of some automated tools, usually free.

Step #1:
You need to compile a list of adjectives and nouns that are popular words. This is pretty easily done with a search in google. Most list either can be downloaded or copied extremely easy. Put these in an excel spread sheet as a list. Check the picture below:

Verbs and Adjectives

Verbs and Adjectives

Step #2:
Now that you have go your list of verbs and adjectives all you have to do now is come up with a keyword that you would like to mine. In this example i will use “Blog”. After you have chosen the keyword you will use just put the keyword either in front of or after the adjectives and verbs. Then just drag the word all the down to the end of the list. Check the picture below:

Verbs and Adjectives Next to 'Blog'

Verbs and Adjectives Next to 'Blog'

Step #3:
The next step is super super simple just highlight the 2 columns and copy them. Check picture below:

Copy The Keywords

Step #4:
Now that you have your keywords copied now you have to paste them in a bulk domain availability checker. My favorite to do this is GoDaddy.com but you can also use my Bulk Domain Availability Checker right here at YGrab.com ;) ! Check Picture Below:

Before Submit at GoDaddy.com

Before Submit at GoDaddy.com

Step #5:
After you click submit it will bring you to another page that lets you know what was available and what was not. From my search, i can tell that the keyword ‘Blog’ has been mined extensively. I know this because there were no available domains with my words.

This is a super simple method that produces some great results if done with the right keywords. Obviously as you can see that some keywords are mined more than others. Try doing this with a variety of keywords and i am sure you can find some great ones to be had. This method also works great with geo targeted domain names. Here is a small list of automated tools that do this same thing for you:

ShoutDomains.com

MakeWords.com

NameTumbler.com

DomainsBot.com

BustAName.com

DomainIdeas.com

Have fun with this and i hope everyone can find a good name or two using this mining method. Let us all know of the domains you have found using this method or one of the tools above. Also if you have something to add do not be afraid to do so.

3 Ways on How To Create a WordPress Blog

There are 3 easy ways to create a wordpress blog. All of them are super easy and i will take you through them all step by step. I am creating this as part of the How To Make Money Blogging post i made.

1. Creating a WordPress Blog on WordPress.com

Creating a WordPress Blog on WordPress.com is probably the easiest way to set up and start blogging right out of the gates. The only down side to this is that you will be using a sub-domains, i.e YGrabMoney.wordpress.com.

Step #1
Click on the sign up button at the top of WordPress.com and then fill out the required fields it presents you with. Make sure that you click on “Gimme a blog too”
*BONUS* Even if you plan on creating a wordpress blog on your own server, it is recommended that you still make an account on wordpress.com. Some plug-ins require a code that you get from that account

Step #2
On the next screen it will ask you your language, blog title, and what url you want for your blog. Again you will be using a sub-domain. After that it will send an email to your email address, go check it and click the confirmation. You can log in from that email but i suggest just moving on from where you had left off at on the other screen. It will ask you your name ect. Now go log in.

Step #3
Log in at WordPress.com and go to “My Dashboard” at the top of the screen when you log in. Congrats your blog is not created and can be accessed and visited by anyone anywhere.
*BONUS* When in the control panel of the blog you can actually set it up to your own domain name. Just click on upgrades below the left side bar. In the menu there should be a tab for domains, just click and add. They will guide you through the process.

2. Creating a WordPress Blog on Your Own Hosting Account

This is the most recommended way of creating a wordpress blog. When doing it this way you have complete control of your domain names, hosting, and blog itself.

Step #1
Download and unzip the WordPress package, if you haven’t already.

Step #2
Create a database for WordPress on your web server, as well as a MySQL user who has all privileges for accessing and modifying it.

Step #3
Rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php.

Step #4
Open wp-config.php in your favorite text editor and fill in your database details as explained in Editing wp-config.php to generate and use your secret key password.

Step #5
Place the WordPress files in the desired location on your web server:
* If you want to integrate WordPress into the root of your domain (e.g. http://example.com/), move or upload all contents of the unzipped WordPress directory (but excluding the directory itself) into the root directory of your web server.
* If you want to have your WordPress installation in its own sub-directory on your web site (e.g. http://example.com/blog/), rename the directory wordpress to the name you’d like the sub-directory to have and move or upload it to your web server. For example if you want the WordPress installation in a sub-directory called “blog”, you should rename the directory called “wordpress” to “blog” and upload it to the root directory of your web server.

Step #6
Run the WordPress installation script by accessing wp-admin/install.php in your favorite web browser.
* If you installed WordPress in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
* If you installed WordPress in its own subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php

3. Creating a WordPress Blog With Fantastico

Fastastico is a self installing script installer. At Least that’s what i would call it. There are an amazing amount of stable scripts to be installed here including joomla, wordpress, and other popular scripts.

Step #1
Click on your Fantastico Icon. On the next page look for ‘wordpress’ on the left hand side, click it.

Step #2
Click New Installation. In the drop down menu select the domain you want it to be installed on. If you want the blog to be installed in another directory other than the main directory fill in that field, if not leave it blank. Fill in the rest of the details. Click ‘Install WordPress’

Step #3
Then click finish installation, then you are done. You can access the blog at yourdomainname.com/wordpressblog/wp-admin. Obviously fill in with your own domain and sub-directory if used.

So as you can see its pretty simple to create and start blogging. Just one more reason to get in on the action and take your online adventures to the next level. So create your own wordpress blog and get on it.

If you need hosting i would recommend HostGator they have fantastico along with great support. Plus they are super super cheap and reliable.
